L2R: Day 8 – Minecrafted Hands

I did say at the start of this series that my posts would get further and further apart, though I intended to update yesterday. I’m still going at it, and there is still some residual confusion for my left hand, though my right seems to be doing things just fine. Today also saw my return to the Minecraft universe with the latest version (1.8) which makes it feel like a whole new game (or just one very polished game).

We’ve chosen to start a new world, and with the expectation that we’re going to be starting afresh [again] when 1.9 comes out we’ve opted to just have a semi-nomadic experience; exploring the world as our foremost form of entertainment. This suites me fine, as I love exploration and adventure – and I found the update, true to its name, supports this well.

The confusion I mentioned simply is the effect of having my opposite hand use the keyboard, and it particularly manifests itself when strafing; and it usually only occurs when I’m trying to do other actions too (particularly when jumping and moving forward/backward) – any further corrections to alter my course usually just end up with me making more of a mess of things. Thankfully that seems to occur quite rarely.

Mans Best Friend, They Say

I mention Minecraft, and I can’t just leave it at a section of a paragraph, basically the latest update makes you feel like more of a hunter, having to pull the bow string tight – and in turn allows you to more easily snipe of animals or monsters. There is nothing quite like wandering a forest or grass plain, with your hound in tow, and hunting those animals which provide food and resources. Indeed, so much so I may have to do a series on it.

Back when I first started to play Minecraft I wanted to do a series called The Boating Barbarian, stopped short because, quite frankly it was impossible to boat anywhere before hitting a blockade in some form or another (usually just a dead end or iced over water) – rivers might see an end to that, or at least allow some promise of further progress with a quick hop. So I’d say, expect that series to start up again soon.

Awwww

Whose that Geezer?

That geezer would be Matt, aka Tower, RavenIII or more recently TowerRaven. He makes websites, plays games and loves music.

This site is his blog, where sometimes he talks about himself in the third person. Welcome, you poor soul!
