Moving along nicely
I’d hoped by now to have already been half way through The Witcher 2. Certain unforeseen circumstances saw to that not happening. Firstly, my university course started up – which wasn’t really unforeseen, but the amount of insta-work was – and the warm weather, oh the blasted warm weather. I don’t like it, and gaming takes a back seat if my computer just gets warmer; which is the second problem situation.
The final circumstance simply is that my mouse (the Roccat Kova) just flat out refused to co-operate with my new Razer Blackwidow keyboard – even after my last post; and for a while I was using an old wireless mouse I wanted to get as far away from as possible. So I ordered a Sharkoon Fireglider, which so far has been very impressive, a little on the large size – it occupies most of the Razer Sphex mousepad. The Roccat isn’t being disposed of, just downgraded to laptop duties.
At the moment I find myself too busy to dedicate large chunks of time to TW2, chunks of time required to immerse myself in the world that little bit more anyway. Though I’m itching to do so, I need to focus on coursework before an imminent deadline hits within a few weeks. Gaming won’t go out the window of course – but I’d rather prefer games which demand less time in general and err on the side of fun-having rather than serious stories.

Speaking of gaming
It has been a mixed few weeks – RAGE is due out here in the UK on Friday, but it sounds like the game isn’t too great, and its at its worst on the PC; thanks to the early testing of our neighbours across the pond (the US) its allowed many worn PC gamers to avoid frustration I should imagine. Meanwhile, I’m still eagerly awaiting Saints Row: The Third, which I decided to preorder on a wing and a prayer that Volition/THQ do not disappoint with a shocking PC release the likes of which Saints Row 2 observed. While Red Faction: Armageddon proved to me they can do a decent PC release from inhouse.
The only other slightly more obscure game to get me stirred is X: Rebirth, the X series reboot going back to its roots. After huge degrees of worrying, I think back to the days of X: Beyond the Frontier and X2… they weren’t all bad infact, they were great and magical – I’m hoping they capture some of that lost magic with XR. The latest X-News has seen to most of my qualms about the more immediate mechanics, that of ships, controls and gameplay.
I will likely post a few more L2R entries, one to comment on the Fireglider, my first hand-specific ergonomic gaming mouse. Another to comment on my experience of playing The Witcher 2 – though I might make that separate eventually.
Cheerio!
I don’t think you’re going o get there with Witcher 2. Dead Island and SR the 3rd, will take of that
Indeed, its been moved onto my todo list
DiRT3 and F1 2011 won’t help either, and I’m quite excited for SR3 as the date approaches (end of this week, depending on delivery it could be next though).
